What is The SoundTrek?
A music placement platform, founded in 2024 and based in Chicago. We connect independent artists with placement opportunities in sync licensing, playlists, and collaborations with major and independent artists, through our proprietary Looking Lists.
What’s a Looking List?
Our list of what the industry is looking for right now: briefs from music supervisors, brands, playlist curators and artists, updated weekly. Every brief spells out the usage, genre, mood, tempo, length, metadata and deadline.
How much does it cost?
Membership is $1 a month for the Looking Lists, SoundTrek Academy, behind-the-scenes content and events. Submit pay-as-you-go at $1 a song or $5 for ten, or subscribe: $5 a month for unlimited Tier 2 and 3 submissions, $10 a month for unlimited submissions to every tier.
What are tiers?
Every brief has a tier. Tier 1 is plaque-worthy projects (elite artists, blockbuster films). Tier 2 is award-winning or nominated work. Tier 3 is emerging and unique projects: independent artists, playlists and commercials.
How do I know what happened to my song?
Your dashboard tracks every submission: Submitted, Pending review, Approved or Denied, with A&R feedback such as Great job, Needs work or Wrong format.
Do I keep my rights?
Yes. You keep ownership of your song. Submitting gives SoundTrek a non-exclusive right to review it and share it with potential collaborators for placement. If you’re placed, compensation and terms are set in a separate placement agreement.
What happens if I’m selected?
We’ll send the placement details and agreement, and you deliver stems within 10 days of approval. Payments follow the terms in your placement agreement.
How long do you keep my submission?
Submissions stay in consideration for up to 18 months, so a song that misses one brief can still land the next.
Is placement guaranteed?
No. Every submission is reviewed, but selection is at the discretion of the SoundTrek team and the professionals behind each brief.
What services do you offer besides submissions?
Mix and master ($299), mastering ($49), A&R feedback ($99) and pitching a song outside a brief ($15). Services are delivered within 14 days.
I’m an industry pro. How do I use it?
Tell us what you need on the Need music? page. We turn it into a brief for the Looking List and send you a curated shortlist.
Are fees refundable?
No. Plans and services are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise. Subscriptions renew monthly and you can cancel anytime, with access through the end of your billing cycle.
